I have had the same problem since I bought my Contour three weeks ago. ('98 Contour GL V6 ATX) Ford wants to rebuild the transmission for $2,200 and it only has 25,000 miles on it. I'm now getting a second opinion. The code shows speed sensor problem but already replaced that and MLPS sensor and still have the prob. If all else fails, I'm going to fix it with a sledge hammer.
