KDW in the snow is very dumb. The tread compound on summer tires is not meant to be very pliable at freezing temperatures. That combined with the typically sipe-less tread designs makes for extremely risky business trying to negotiate slippery/frozen/snow covered roads.

Don't do it.

I once got caught in some snow in the SVT with the KDW tires on. Stopping was the slipperiest part, and the car was tossable and catchable, but its traction limits were astoundingly low (compared to having the Pilot Alpins on).

Drive slow. The tread sucks on ice.

Bunch of babies.. I did a winter with the original Eagle F1s, and then 3 winters with the BFG KDW tires, and never got stuck once. Yeah, their grip isn't great, but if you know how to drive in the snow smart (which I learned how to do in Buffalo), then you can get by. I had to do a 60 mile trip the day after a big snowfall last year, and the biggest hurdle was getting out of my development. Once out, it was clear (but slow) sailing.

I'd say if you live in a climate where you get quite a bit of snow, go with a snow tire. But if you live someplace where you may only get 2-4 snowfalls a year, save your money and take it slow if you have to go out.

Sledding Vehicluar Terror

The only thing that makes the car tractable in snow is the fact it stops surprisingly well.
Forget about starting out and turns at over 15mph require multiple lanes.

Like said. If you live in an area that gets any snow that stays. GET SNOW TIRES or park it!

Tires 101...when theres no M+S to be found on the sidewall that mean NO IN THE SNOW Trust me, you'll be white knuckling it the whole winter. Look at it like this, a set of snow tires are cheaper than getting the car fixed when, and I do mean WHEN you crash it with those KDW on. Get some snow tires on cheap, steel rims and have fun this winter

Well dumb-ass...me and my 3 children want to thank you for being such a safety hazzard on snow covered roads. The difference between Z/W rated performance radials and even All seasons like I have are night and day. Hopefully we'll meet someday in an emergency situation, and rather than avoiding the situation like you should be able to...you can tear into us becuase you're too hard-ass to put on the proper tire for the environment....moron.

Nest time its raining at Sachsen Ring, I'll tell Shumacher "You big baby...you'll go out on those slicks and like it!"
