So tell me how bad I am screwed... I just replaced the timing belt about 25000 miles ago but today I was accelerating in first gear at about 4000 rpm the car shut off.. After getting the car home I pulled the timing cover off and pulled the belt up... How shot is the engine.... I could probably get an SVT Engine from my dealership for around $1500.00 and it would be alot more reliable than rebuiling..also it would be alot Faster for when I get the rest if the SVT Kit... Any Help would be much appreciated... Thanks in advance people....

from everything I have read the Zetec is a non-interference motor, so it shouldn't be a problem but I really do not know for sure.
I don't think for has ever made an interference motor but I could be wrong there also

I can tell you there is no way you are getting a SVT engine or any other Duratec in there.

Why not? All contours have the exact engine compartment...

Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.

LMAO,,,it could be reliable if metal impeller and DMD added and i think he meant more reliable than HIS zetec, though funny how ford stuck all the duratec owners that spent more on their cars with all the problems and left us zetecers only with the a little less power (that can be fixed )

The trade off of less power, but better reliability, is one I dont mind making Like you said, the power problem can be fixed.
