Check your codes again. Sometimes when you clean the EGR circuits[ports and valve] carbon gets loosened but maybe you didnt get out all the pieces, so later on when the engine was running some of the carbon worked its way into the seat of the EGR valve and is causing problems again. When you have CEL's always pull the codes, it will get you started in the right direction. Hope this helps. smile

Had a 4.6 Crown Vic that did the same thing. Tried cleaning out the EGR valve and got a temp fix. Replaced the EGR and everything was fine. (course on a V-8 it was a little more difficult) laugh

Before you layout for a new EGR, check that the passage AFTER the EGR is clear. The passage feeds EG into three slots in the flange on the intake manifold where the Throttle body mounts. Remove the throttle body, and make sure the grooves around the flange are free of crud, and if you.ve got comprssed air, blow out the passage (cast into the manifold) from the EGR to the the TB flange. If U don't have air, try working a 1/4" piece of rubber hose thru the passage from the egr end to the TB end. You'll be surprised at the crud that gets built up in there! Not a difficult (but messy) job, and if that's the culprit, even a new EGR valve will not help it. Good luck.
