I noticed when I tried to turn off the O/D, it didn't work. I checked all the wiring and is all connected. I turned to car off and turned it back on and the button worked. What is the problem?

When you say, "it didn't work", do you mean the light wouldn't turn on, or it wouldn't disengage fourth gear?
You have to be going about 34MPH (at the slowest point) for fourth gear to engage. So try going 40, and then hitting the button. Check to see if it downshifts to third.

The SI Guy,

WHen you press your O/D Lockout button, the OD OFF light on the dash should illuminate.
If it doesn't you may have an intermittent connection in the shifter.
You also don't have to be in D for it to light.
If should light even without the engine running and the transmission shifted into P.
Just turn your Ignition key to ON, and then press the O/D Lockout button on your shifter.

When I press the button, it does not light up.

Does it still work, mechanically though?

Yes it does. It,s when I try to turn it off with the button it does not light up. The bulb is good because when I start the car I see the light come on for a second.

Update:when I press the O/D button, the light does not come on. I think the lightbulb in the dash is bad.
