I am new to your forum and I am hoping to find help on a "no start" problem.

My Contour is a 1995 LX V-6 5-speed with Traction Contol.

I recently installed a new clutch, and when I was done, the motor cranked but wouldn't start. I sent the car to the local Ford Service and they found a siezed altenator. Towed the car home and replaced the altenator, no start.
Towed it back to Ford where they replaced the underhood wiring harness, cam and crank sensors, plugs and computer. No fault codes and no start. Service manager told me they have done all they can do under warranty, that they don't know what the problem is, and they would gladly charge me $70.00/hr to keep looking. Towed the car home, contacted Ford Dispute Settlement Board and BBB, no luck with additional assistance.

What did I do when I lowered the engine a couple of inches to remove the transaxle? Anyone have a similar problem?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I assume that all the fuses are okay. What about the fuel pump shutoff switch?

Fuel shut off is OK, and I am have to assume the techs at Ford checked the fuses, but I will recheck them, any other suggestions?

I had a 'big fuse' that went bad, and it caused the same thing. The motor would spin freely, but would not fire. Don't know how to describe the 'big fuse' except that I think it was a 20 Amp, blue fuse, in the box under the hood. I had a wire short out and blow the fuse.

The 20-amp (big blue) fuses under the hood are OK. I did manage however to destroy one to the 60-amp (big yellow) fuses that unbolt instead of sliding out. I'll be back after I get a new fuse.

Is the coil pack getting voltage? Can you verify spark on each spark wire? More things to check...

And along those lines, does the fuel pump whirr when you turn the key. You can probably hear it in the back seat?

Of course that big fuse may be the problem.
