I have a 98SE ATX...the question is, can the 3L mate with my ATX tranny...has anyone tried this, or am just dreaming?

IIRC it will fit just fine. I don't know if anyone on here that has done the 3.0 conversion has an ATX or not, but I am almost positive it bolts up just fine. Now the ATX tranny is supposedly only rated to 200 ft. pds tq, and the 3L hybrids are in the 180's I think. So If you have some serious mods your tranny may not hold up. I really don't know too much about this, so someone else on here that knows more will either refute that or confirm that.

for some reason im thinking airknight's just completed 3.0 is atx....i am prolly wrong though...other than that i know of some that want to try but i dont know specifically if anyone is rolling 3.0 atx i myself want to do this with the understanding that the biggest change seems to be that the crankshaft (bushing?) needs to be ground down flush with the flywheel and im still trying to absorb the all the different info...my head has exploded several times during 3.0 forum reading sessions...im figuring that since there isn't much ceg type knowledge out here where i live i'll need to know much as possible to convince some shop to take this project on....if i tried to do it my tour would never run again

Yea you are wronge on that, its an mtx. I sweat that I remember reading somewhere that some did do an atx, with the level 10 treament or something...not sure if thats the right company but there is one that beefs up atx's.

Yes you can do it, look for Bito 3.0 somewhere here on the boards. He did the 3.0 to his ATX, I believe it's the same prep work as the MTX, from what he told me.
