Demon, while I agree with you (theoretically), I have to admit I've never driven a car with such performance numbers. Doesn't seem that bad considering the engine's displacement.. Definitely not the most "driveable" setup, but as a race oriented car I've seen much worse in terms of dyno curves!
For comparison purporse, I'd like to get your input on this specific dyno sheet. This is BillyT's 1.8t VW with a t3/t4 bb setup, on dead stock long block, never opened.
The car runs 12.32 @ 113mph on slicks and 13.07 @ 113mph on street tires. There's a nice flat 2k RPM worth of max torque available in there.. Tom's not far from that either, his car is very strong from 5k to 7k. It does take more time to wind up though, which is where your criticism lies. Isn't that a result of a very low CR? No way around it really, for those crazy numbers, is there?
Just thought I'd post something to compare to Tom's awesome Focus. That video is insane, the car must be REALLY hard to drive!! Props to the man.
