Demon, while I agree with you (theoretically), I have to admit I've never driven a car with such performance numbers. Doesn't seem that bad considering the engine's displacement.. Definitely not the most "driveable" setup, but as a race oriented car I've seen much worse in terms of dyno curves!

For comparison purporse, I'd like to get your input on this specific dyno sheet. This is BillyT's 1.8t VW with a t3/t4 bb setup, on dead stock long block, never opened.

The car runs 12.32 @ 113mph on slicks and 13.07 @ 113mph on street tires. There's a nice flat 2k RPM worth of max torque available in there.. Tom's not far from that either, his car is very strong from 5k to 7k. It does take more time to wind up though, which is where your criticism lies. Isn't that a result of a very low CR? No way around it really, for those crazy numbers, is there?

Just thought I'd post something to compare to Tom's awesome Focus. That video is insane, the car must be REALLY hard to drive!! Props to the man.

Its slow off the line because it spins the wheels through the first 2 gears and part of 3rd. Also with the contour 4.06 final drive, first gear is pretty pointless anyways. Hopefully that will all change when he bolts on the 26" slicks It might be enough change that he wont have to shift into 5th 100' from the finish too

Deamon you crack me up

I have just gone to a little larger turbo because the one i was useing came on so fast that i had nothing off the line but wheel spin and made 328hp at the wheels

I picked this turbo for some lag because i had no first gear at all if you look at the video

So see sometime you dont know it all

As for tuning where is your 400+hp zetec or duratec for that matter

As for the lag it does have i started the run from 2000rpm now how often do we drive our cars under 3000rpm

Thanks for the kind words from the rest ,And thanks to FST4DR for coming to our GTG and starting this post

I agree Tom this is a remarkable achievement. I have to disagree with DemonSVT in saying that its a poor curve, have you seen SCC's new 300Zx TT build up? They get about 400hp increase from 4000 to 4800rpm! Now that is a poor curve I think. The traction on these cars suck so bad so a little lag is definitly not going hurt a damn thing, I only have question for Tom why the 4.06 FD ratio? I swapped in the 3.84 because I wanted a little taller to help wheel spin on my SC 3L, with that much power and TQ wouldn't it benefical?

I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

Why must so many people confuse boost threshold with lag????
