The Jag S Type, the Escape, the Jag X-Type, and various other Ford/Mercury/Jaguar products use the Duratec in one form or another (2.5L-3.0L). Ford did drop my car like a bad habit, but the motor (originally designed by Porche) is still in widespread use. I hear that Ford was having a hard time passing global emissions standards with the Zetec. Sounds like bang for the buck, the Mazda engines are better.
Once again, I mean no pissing match. Just asking Kermit to not start sh!tty rumors about a (kick-ass) company like Street Flight before he or anyone know the whole story.
ALL Jags use a Jag designed motor.... there is no Duratec in them.... and hte others last I checked were 3.0 duratecs similar yet different. and care to show us where you read about the 2.0 mazda being used and where they emission problems are... cause last time I took the actual tail pipe emission test I hardly gave any readings for emissions and that was last year.
You are dead wrong on the Jaguar issue. It is a really nice Duratec. Anyone that cares to back me up, chime in. Don't you find it strange that Ford, which owns Jag, would have the same displacement motors (2.5L and 3.0L) in several of their product lines. Welcome aboard! It is called Globalization. While all motors are not exactly the same, they all share the same block. Heads and intake plenums switch to provide more/less torque or better /worse HP, it all depends on what they want. You can't expect the Escape to have a 231HP rating as the X-Type does... Look at Chevy, they have been doing this for years... Corvettes always outpowered the Camaros with virtually the same motors. And while I cannot find the article that outlines the reason for the switch (i.e. emissions), here is the one referring to the swap (Zetec to Mazda four), in general... Motor Trend Dec 2002- "...That Focus gets 2.0L Mazda Power to replace the 2.0L split-port induction Focus engine. A 2.3L Mazda four replaces the 2.0L Zetec. Both will find their was into the next-generation Protege' and the new Focus based Volvo S40." Page 39 in the Spied! article. I DO NOT talk out of my Arse, as some here do. That article, while I won't type the whole thing out, is about the '04 SVT Focus and upcoming plans for it.
