Ford did drop my car like a bad habit, but the motor (originally designed by Porche) is still in widespread use. I hear that Ford was having a hard time passing global emissions standards with the Zetec. Sounds like bang for the buck, the Mazda engines are better.
Once again, I mean no pissing match. Just asking Kermit to not start sh!tty rumors about a (kick-ass) company like Street Flight before he or anyone know the whole story.
ALL Jags use a Jag designed motor.... there is no Duratec in them.... and hte others last I checked were 3.0 duratecs similar yet different. and care to show us where you read about the 2.0 mazda being used and where they emission problems are... cause last time I took the actual tail pipe emission test I hardly gave any readings for emissions and that was last year.
You are dead wrong on the Jaguar issue. It is a really nice Duratec. Anyone that cares to back me up, chime in. Don't you find it strange that Ford, which owns Jag, would have the same displacement motors (2.5L and 3.0L) in several of their product lines. Welcome aboard! It is called Globalization. While all motors are not exactly the same, they all share the same block. Heads and intake plenums switch to provide more/less torque or better /worse HP, it all depends on what they want. You can't expect the Escape to have a 231HP rating as the X-Type does... Look at Chevy, they have been doing this for years... Corvettes always outpowered the Camaros with virtually the same motors. And while I cannot find the article that outlines the reason for the switch (i.e. emissions), here is the one referring to the swap (Zetec to Mazda four), in general... Motor Trend Dec 2002- "...That Focus gets 2.0L Mazda Power to replace the 2.0L split-port induction Focus engine. A 2.3L Mazda four replaces the 2.0L Zetec. Both will find their was into the next-generation Protege' and the new Focus based Volvo S40." Page 39 in the Spied! article. I DO NOT talk out of my Arse, as some here do. That article, while I won't type the whole thing out, is about the '04 SVT Focus and upcoming plans for it.

I am not talking about the brand label. I mean the actual creator of the motor. Like the Ford Duratec is really a Porsche-designed motor, so I suppose you could say with the changes Ford made it is a Ford motor, but I would still consider it a Porsche engine. I am under the (correct or incorrect) impression the Zetec is of Japanese origin, and therefore not a Ford. So I was thinking maybe Mazda designed it?

Jaguar has a "fancy" Duratec. I have seen it in many magazines and shows.

the split port is NOT A ZETEC... the split port is the base engine for the focus as it was for the Escort. and as you just said here the 2.0 mazda is a replacement for the split port. and the 2.3 is a replacement for the Zetec. and if you followed all the spied info the current SVT focus is turboed... which we all know it isn't... nothing is fact till it rolls off the assemby line with it... you may not be talking out of your arse but many people at the different car mags do.

I agree with you on the Zetec issue, but where is the retraction on your Jaguar statement? BTW- Just because the motor was designed by Porche does not make it a Non-Ford motor. The Zetec, by my understanding, was partially designed by Cosworth. Does that make it theirs? That logic is strange.

there is no reason to retract my statement about the jag motors... case everything I can find says it's a jag design not porsche/ford. and ummm cosworth had nothing to do with the Zetec design they did have to do with the casting process used for the duratec block though which I think is what you are thinking about.
