Double platinums (PP) are required in the Duratec because of the waste fire style of ignition system. (Autolite - APP764's or Motorcraft AWSF32PP's) It reverse fires the opposing plug the same time it normally fires the intended plug. This causes the ground electrode to wear extremely rapidly on non double platinum plugs.
Do not use Motorcraft AGSF plugs, they extend 5/8" farther into the cylinder than the AWSF's. With the increased compression of the SVT there is the potential for physical damage, placement of the spark in the wrong part of the combustion chamber, and fouling of the exposed plug threads which could make the plug very hard to remove!
