Not if your want to have engine longevity.

Why trade the likely early destruction of your engine for maybe 2HP???

The SHOShop pullies replace the stock crank pulley and it's "DAMPER" therefore leaving nothing to dampen the destructive vibrations and whip in the crankshaft!

This has been an ongoing discussion. I've got 2 UDP's on and would hate to give up the throttle response for something like a heavy DMD ... then again I may eat my words one day.

I have the SHO shop UD pulleys and plan on putting them on...as soon as I get the DMD. The crank pulley is made to accept a DMD. Hopefully, I will attain greater hp and reliability.

Piggy backing a damper on the SHOShop unit will not work.

For 1 it is designed to work by being directly attached crankshaft (I.E. correct frequency dampening)

For 2 the DMD will not fit between the engine & fender wall when piggybacked.

Folks it's just not worth the risk for maybe 2HP from the under driving effect.

especially if you see what your giving up. power for accesories. I have burnt out a battery so far trying to keep up with my stereo and heater. wouldnt be surprised if my alternator is next.

"no negative effects on the engine" - yea right, you can feel more vibration at all times.

"you will have more power" - id say so, it does rev alot faster.

"you can run all your accessories and a stereo system up to 400 watts" - yea if you use 1 at a time, or only use them for a bit.

my car would die if I had my stereo cranked up and i was driving on the highway (bout a 20 min drive ussually), as soon as i stopped at a light my car would die.

another thing that i didnt consider is that you would lose power for spark and such for the engine, now im not sure if thats where it pulls power from but thats what i think.

*ok rant over - patiently awaiting my DMD

Last I knew you didn't need a DMD on an ATX?

im getting it for other reasons tho. first by running accessories i have burnt out a battery, and my alternator is probly on its way out. secondly i need to use my accessories due to where i live, now the heater and rear defrost are pretty much always on - i need the power for them. thirdly its for a sense of security. it may not need it and will probly be fine for my atx but the way i use my car i need it.

As per SHO Shop installation instructions:
9. Slide UD Crankshaft Pulley onto the crankshaft, slide stock dampener inside UD pulley and secure it with supplied 1/4" bolts.

As you can see from the above instructions, the dampener goes inside the pulley. Henceforth, the dampener is still attached to the crankshaft and can still cancel out harmful vibrations. Also, since the dampener is inside the pulley, I see no opportunity for fender rubbing. Just my opinion. Let me know what you think!

Instructions from someone SELLING the parts. Not that designed them.

The stock crank damper will not function in the frequency range it is designed for if you change it's positioning and orientation. (I.E. it is WORTHLESS DEAD WEIGHT)
Also the engine would rev slower when you add the weight of the 2 pulley's together. (the SHO pulley plus the stock pulley outweigh the DMD itself by nearly 3lbs) That in itself would negate any HP gained and just leave you with a slower revving engine. Why bother?

Number 2 - The DMD WILL NOT FIT piggy backed because it is considerable wider than the stock pulley. (The instructions are pertaining to the STOCK pulley fitting)

BTW - I'd change your signature too because of that last part!

...and change your handle it is offensive & just plain ignorant.
