Finally got around to removing the pinstripes on my car. I did not think it would look that much better, however, it made a big difference.
Process was pretty easy with light blow drying and some "Goo Gone".
Probably will remove ding guards when it gets warm if I have the nerve.

They do look a lot nicer without pinstripes. Mine had chrome stripes that had turned foggy and white. Took one bar membership card, and some 3M adhesive remover to pull mine off. I used a heat gun instead of a hairdryer.
Make sure you wax up where the stripes were. The goof off will strip the wax right off the car.

I too was surprised how much better it looked without the pinstripes, and mine were subtle (dark grey on silver). Let's give a moment of silence for those poor souls whose pinstripes are painted on. It is interesting how I will remove pinstripes and body side mouldings to make the car look better, but not take care of the paintjob whatsoever. Oh' well!

My white pinstripes look pink from a distance on my CabRed paint. Looks like I will have to wait for spring to remove them. Since I dont have a warm place to put the car and since I have no hair dryer/heat gun or even an extension cord (I hate apartments!) warm weather is my only hope. Just call me Pinky....no...don't.

You do not need a heat gun, a ray of sun will work for you in the NW.
if they are painted on you will know by the edges. If they are not abrupt and very smooth as you move your hand down the panel it is paint. If you can feel the edge then they are tape. Just pick at it, you will know in 5 seconds.
Start slow by picking an edge and then just carefully pulling it off, it will break and you will either have to pick at it again or use a Safeway club card (small width plastic credit card) and get a new edge going. Timeconsuming but you can get a side done in about 1hr. After removal you will see the wax buildup and sticky residue. Use goo gone generously and let it soak in for 3-5 minutes. With a soft terry towel just rub the excess residue off the car. Wash then wax your side panels.

You can rip them off in any weather. And there will be residue that you need to remove. Higher temperatures might help, but are not necessary.

I hear you. Someone on here, perhaps you Beowulf, said something about my stripes looking pink. I never saw it until it was mentioned. I new they had to go at that point.
After the goo gone, I cleaned the area up with some paint cleaner. Then I waxed it up with some cleaner wax and it looks good. Can't even tell they were ever on there.
The car looks much better to me, but everyone I know thinks I am crazy with my car.
I need to take some pics.
