I think you should be able to remove the red or yellow retainer from the plug and remove the terminal from the plug (just use a jeweler's screwdriver to lift up on the plastic finger that holds the terminal in, so that you can slip the heatshrink tubing over the terminal and over the wire without needing to cut it...
