Well I just got the Tour back from 3 weeks of being in the shop. Engine was replaced. I have a question though. After the car was warmed up I took her out for a test (belts were a little noisier than before but hopefully that will quiet down) 1st gear felt good 2nd was good also, but when I shifted into 3rd the engine hesitated like it was being starved of fuel or something. So after that nice jolt I slowed down and tried it again. Same thing only worse it jolted me back and forth and the engine light came on again. I slowed down and fethered the hesitating engine back to my house. It now seemed to be struggling whenever I would mildly get on the gas. Once home I unhooked the battery and let it sit for 10 minutes. Hooked it back up, started it and let it run for another 10 in hopes that the computer just hadn't adjusted to the new engine. The check engine light was off now so I took her out for another spin. Jumped onto the highway and got on the gas a bit up to 80mph. Response was good so I exited 3 miles up. Once at the light I idled there for a minute or two and then took off only to get the hesitation again starting off from first gear this time.
Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I hate to give it back to ford again, but I'm not sure what is wrong. I'm not sure with the engine replacement if the computer would have to be reconfigured or maybe that doesn't matter. I assume they replace the engine with the same type from the 98 models with the 195hp and not the upgrated 1999-2000 model which gained the additional 5hp somewhere.
Any help would be much appreciated. Sorry this was so long.
