Alright, this started about a week ago in my SVT. Sometimes when I make a left or right turn I get the most horrible moaning noise and I can feel it in the steering wheel as well as the pedals. Doesn't seem to matter if I take the turn fast or slow, or turn the wheel sharper. Probably does it about 25% of the time. It almost sounds like the 'moose' noise except louder...much louder. I've had people just staring in other cars after hearing this hideous noise. Like I said, in addition to the noise, the steering wheel vibrates and I can feel it in the pedals. This one has be stumped. Any suggestions? Thanks.

sounds like the wheel bearings are gone....but inconsistently .... only acting up every once in a while.
definately sounds like your wheel bearings. a common issue amongst these cars.

A friend of mine had a renault that made a similar sound - fixed each time the CV jts were replaced (up to set 3 now)
Wheel bearings more likely tho...

Could be wheel bearings, but I would expect wheel bearings to consistently make the noise. When mine went out, the noise was there when going straight ahead, or when turning to the left. There was no noise when I turned right. I consistently got the noise on left turns or straight ahead though.
Are your lug nuts torqued correctly? You may want to jack up the front wheels and see if you can identify any looseness in the front end.

lol, I did check that and its fine. I took it for a drive a few minutes ago trying to make it moan. I could only make it do a few times out of about 50 turns, so it's definitely less than 25% of the time. The few times it did do it it didn't matter if it was left or right, or how fast I took the turn, or how sharp I turned the wheel. When I'm going straight, there is no noise or 'hum' thats sometime associated with wheel bearing failures. When it does make the noise it almost sounds like something is rubbing? I dont know, I guess I'll take to ford next week. -neal

Dry ball joints can make a noise when you turn, or when the wheel bounces up and down.....the noise is more like a squeak than a moan though.
