I turned in a leased Sable (a few years ago)with 80k miles and original rear disc brake pads/rotors. (2 sets of front brakes)

I also had a 1995 Stratus, rear drums, wore out rear brakes to metal in 18k miles. Dealer said it is normal and nothing wrong.

I have 47k on my Tour and have original fronts and drum rears.

On a front drive, the rear brakes should last at least 2 times as long as the fronts. If you race, all deals are off. But normal driving, no way should you kill the rears in that kind of mileage.
