The Duratec v6 only has a bad water pump before 1999, and it is now upgraded, in the Mazda 6s with 220HP. Should be in the C/D338 "Tauri/Contour replacement" for 2005, also.
Ranger DOES not have the 2.3 with 170Hp. I saw one at the track run 18.6 with a MTX.
That 2.3 is a Mazda engine not a Ford, just like the Mazda Protege has a 2.0L and is not a Zetec.
