About a year ago I replaced the engine in my 97 tour (duratec) with a 99 cougar engine. Everything has been fine with it, or at least I thought so. I just happened to race a 99 mystique ATX at the strip the other day and he was completely stock and handed my a$$ to me. I have had this car for 4 years now and I am realising that its not running right. I had been told a while back that the cougar injectors are larger that the 97 tour duratec's injectors. If this is the case, my computers fuel mapping is probably not right. I have a couple other problems like pinging (even on 93 octane). My question is, when I get the superchip for my car here shortly, should I get it programmed for a 99 cougar or a 97 Tour? All the sensors on the engine are cougar, exception of the throttle body and MAF. For what its worth, my car is running consistant 17's in the 1/4 and I used to run low 16's with the old 100,000 mile engine. What is the deal?

Thanks,
Scott

The cougar MAF was probably 70mm wich is bigger than the original making it run lean. You can get the cougar MAF or have the chip programmed for the cougar injectors and the contour MAF.

That makes sense, so if I was to purchase and install the pro flow 75 mm maf, would that work just the same?

Yes just tell them what parts you are using so they can program the A/F correctly in the chip.

Go to the Duratec Performance section and ask about custom chip programming, some guys there have done similar things.
