w3rd. Same thing w/ mine. I am now sway-bar less, and actually liking it. (of course, less oversteer, but that's what the hand brake is for!) -John

Judge, I know what you are talking about. Same problem here. I have been bar-less for the last few weeks as well. Handling is a disappointment now... those poor front tires...
Guess I gotta get going on that subframe repair. You gonna drop the subframe too?
Welding in the Aussie plates was definitely NOT the long term solution I was hoping for.

just a quick question guys -
how long before they broke on you? I'm just concerned because my bushings were already squeaking cause of the lack of grease - so i'm wondering what'll be wrong next with this mod....

Don't confuse squeaking with structural failure. If they squeak, give them more grease and be thankful that you have only a minor annoyance to deal with.
My weld-in plates lasted about 3000 miles. The welds sucked. They were cold and didn't properly penetrate the base metal. That said though, even if the welds were better, it was just a matter of time before failure occurred on the little vertical pieces that run up into the subframe.
The only long term fix to this problem is to drop the subframe and weld some additional gusset plates from above.

Judge, I sent you a pm but not sure if you got it. Both of my brackets are broken and I need to get them fixed right! Let me know what you are going to do and maybe I can join you. I've got a couple places here in Ann Arbor that could probably do the welding for me, but I need a permanent fix! -Chuck

After 3 broken brackets and strange noises I'm gonna put a new cross-member back in there and the stock sway bar back in. With the car lowered I likely won't notice too much degradation in handling anyhow ... I just can't take the hassles anymore.
