I've been Aussie barless for awhile also.
When I see the damage that was done, it becomes apparant the only way to fix it right is by dropping the subframe and welding a heavy duty bracket assembly on.
I have access to a nice shop with a lift (but no welder.) Probably tackle this over the holidays, drop the subframe, work up a bracket design, and have my welder come in and weld it.
This experience is an excellent example that a modification must be looked at in its totality. Similiar to throwing a 12# boost turbo on an engine (such as ours) that don't have the internals for it. Somethings gotta give sooner or later.
