You obviously missed my post. Call Crutchfield and ask for the premium stereo bypass wiring harness. It's like $16-17.

Okay, I just reread my post and realized that I didn't say that right. The Metra Part that I bought at AutoZone (and it should be at other places like Circuit city and stuff) is:
AW-WHFPS
It has a blue bar on the top and indicates Ford/Mercury.

It has three sets of connectors in it:
1.) Main Line (for power, dimmer, antenna, etc...
2.) Speaker into Factory Amp (Non ByPass)
3.) Amp ByPass Connector (a double ended connector: one end plugs into factory harness going to speakers. The other end goes to a different Ford/Mercury amp I think. I just cut off the useless plug, put some bullet connector on it and connected the bullets to the Pioneer speaker outs from the Head Unit.

No factory wires cut!

I hope this helps someone. If more info is needed, feel free to drop me a msg.

Oh yeah, it was 10 bucks (no shipping !
Peace

and did a search. going in for audio work tomorrow and want
to make sure this is done..

....let the hazing begin....

Open your glovebox, unclip it and let is open all the way, then look behind it, It is the cheap looking thing with the wires coming out of it (not the engine computer, the OTHER cheap looking thing DO NOT BYPASS YOU CAR'S COMPUTER! )

I bought that by-pass harness a couple months ago. I moved soon after and with all the hooplah I still haven't installed it. Perhaps tomorrow I'll do it. If so I'll be sure to let you know what difference I notice. For the record I'm running Pioneer 6x8's on a Sony whatever-deck.

Okay, Crutchfield may have our amp bypass on line now, but I'm not sure. I got the wrong one from a local shop so I haven't actually seen the correct one. I just know to contact Crutchfield by phone to get the right one.

Does this one look correct?
