Hi well just to let you guys know i was parked at the wal-mart at Warden and eglinton going shopping. When i came out half an hour later i notice a cart beside my car,but i always park so far away from any store so nobody marks my car that i couldn't tell how close it was.As i got next to it i pull the cart away to find a 8 inch scratch on the rear 1/4 panel.I go to the dealer to find out it will cost me over $600.00 to fix.I'am calling head office tomorrow to see if then can do anything even meet me half way.

Good luck on assistance. I'd be really surprised if they did help to pay for the damage. It just sucks that people are to lazy/ignorant to put tere cart away when they are through with it.

I had that happen at a Canadian Tire. I run a restaurant in the same parking lot as CT. So I have to park my car there.
They told me it wasn't their problem since it was one of their shoppers who left the cart there. They wouldn't even cover the $70 to get the scratch buffed out. Dirty bastids.
So now I have to park my car in different areas depending on the prevailing winds. The only upside to winter is no more windblown carts, cause they get stuck in the snow.
And $600 for your repair? Thats robbery. Go somewhere else, other than the dealer. I got my scratched up rear quarter panel and bumper repainted for $440 w/tax about two months ago. And I paid a little bit extra to have the bumper removed and painted rather than painted on the car. Surely a shop in TO can do one panel (with a dent) for under $400 w/tax.

It really isn't the store's fault that someone else put a cart into the side of your car. I do understand how annoying it is, it's happened to me in the past as well. But I wouldn't expect the store to admit fault for a customer's lack of respect.
Just find a soccer mom somewhere (cause they're so hard to find) and ask her if turn signals were optional equipment. When she turns bright red with anger, you'll feel better. It was probably one of them anyway...

Bring the store to small claims court if they don't want to pay. Did that at when my mom got a busted light at Knobhill farms in Cambridge. As soon as they got notice to appear, they cut a cheque...

$600 is WAY too much to fix it. I went to an independent shop here in Ottawa, and they estimated $450 to remove a large dent in my cousin's Cadavalier (long story) and paint it.

That is a lot of money. Not sure where you are located but I know of a good body shop in Mississauga. They fixed my car and their worked seems to be very good. Oh BTW, Ghosst your alive. I was starting to worry.

Is there any way your insurance can help out? Or is there no chance since it was a parking lot?

When fighting it out with Walmart, I would blame negligence on the 'cartboy' His job is to round up all of the carts and make sure they are cleared from the parking lot and brought back to the store...
On a different note, I agree with Dana...
Best of Luck!

I agree that it is not the store's fault that you have a dent. The cart boy (Cartman?) argument would be your best shot at getting something, but I don't think you'll win. That would mean any fender bender in their lot is immediately their responsibility. These things happen in big parking lots. Sorry!
