Derk I'm due for a sub 15 second run, probably safe to say a 14.9 or 8 considering our drag strip is very horrible, (track is not only into headwind but it's a good .5 sec average slower than most other tracks) it's never maintained and the surface is very slippery especially around the launch pad. The best to date was a 15.1 a 92, but my car is running really strong since then with recent adjustments

The other night I ran a 15.3 a 91, but here's the great part, I hit almost 75mph at the 1/8th mile marker which is a personal best, average use to be 72mph, unfortunately one of my connections on my y-pipe popped off at the 1/8th (have you ever heard an uncapped SVT ) and really killed the performance of the car after that point plus I let off the gas for a short moment cause I thought I broke something then got back on it again. I know that the coming apart of the front bank down pipe to Y-pipe had a significant affect on performance because it happened twice and both times my trap speed went down compare to the other 3 runs with the y in tact. I personally feel that this 15.3 run should have been a 15.0 or 14.9 @95mph and this was done on a slow track in headwind conditions in only 76deg weather. I know that our OuterIsland drag strips like Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii racers average .5 secon faster times than we do here and many of the outerisland racers can attest to that when the come to O'ahu to race in certain events and find there about 1/2 second slower than they are at home. I feel that my SVT is right in the 14.5 sec range @about 96mph in cold conditions like cougardemon, (or most all CEG/NECO members have the luxury of) had as I know just a drop of 10 degrees from the average day temp of 86deg. locally in temp. rewards me with about 3-4mph and a few tenths. I wish I could run in 40-50 deg weather on a fairly decent track, boy would my Tour really haul ARSE!!!

Micah - recent adjustments, eh? I like the sound of that. I wouldn't worry too much about a poorly maintained track screwing up your times...you still live in the sweetest state in the US.
BTW, if you think you'd like the feeling of driving in colder air...try coming from ~7000 ft. in altitude and going to sea level! Gotta love the extra 30hp.

Yeah, I bet that sure don't help one bit. Altitude is never a good thing for performance. I think a place like California where the air dips into the 50's, now that's something I will always long for.

I must agree this is definately at least 1 of the sweetest States to be in. I guess that helps offset our crappy track a bit. I won't fuss it, I'll be posting my soon 14sec run

"Cougar V6 = 2892# "

That's for the I4 MTX. If you have a V6 and start adding interior options...that weight gets pushed up to 3,000+

I was waiting for someone to call him on that - also could you tell us how you removed almost 1,000 pounds from your Contour?

I don't doubt you but please preach brother!

For reduction I estimate:

no backseat
no spare
no A/C
no passenger seat
single slight weight racing seat
no interior trip
no door panels
remove all electronics
no insulation on floor or doors
no lining in trunk
no headlights, no taillights
12 lb wheels
no power steering

That's only close to 500-600 lb less.

400-500 lb unaccounted for.

I met a guy who was running high 13's in his SVT before. Of course I didn't see him run it so I have evidence to back that claim but he told me about lighting his car plus his engine mods (close to what shoshop has but no 3L)
