I have a 98 SVT and my check engine lite is on. I have lost the power in the upper RPMs where the SVT had the extra boost around 3500 on the tach. The code is

P1518

anyone else ever have this problem

I feel sorry for you man.

I just got rid of that code.. I had it for over 5 months. Dealership replaced my IMRC and ECU and it did not help. They finally figured out it was a short between the IMRC and ECU. Check the wire that runs out of the IMRC and runs into the top plug on the left side of the engine, near the rear valve cover.. YOu will see three of these plugs. Check the top one, and the upper most wire. I dont know what color it is, because it is now a black wire since my dealership replaced it.

MastaMoon, how much did it cost to replace the IMRC. Mine threw a code about 3 months ago and I contemplated replacing it. Thanks.

Mine was replaced under warranty luckly.. I believe you can get them for around 100 bucks.. The install should be cake to do yourself. Just make sure its actually bad before you replace it.

Got into the IMRC and the wire has snapped!! Go figure!!! Another $250.00 to Ford! If she didn't look so good I'd dump her in a second..... mad
