Yes you have to make an adapter of some sort
I used a Aluminum after i made a wood templet type thing. One of my Friends whos a michine worker or some sort made it for me at his work.

It kinda sucks its not drop in but it feels awesome.

yep...i don't have access to a machinist,or the tools to make one out of metal..so i figured wood would be the next best thing....its strong, and its easy to drill and cut...and so far it works great...the shifter feel is totally amazing...

and yes the b+m doesn't require an adapter plate to fit...but it also isn't a true short throw shifter either...it is just a shorter handle...the steeda is longer at the bottom to make the throws shorter up top...the b+m would also require an adapter plate if it was a true short throw shifter...

i highly reccomend the steeda to anyone with the know how and tools to do the extra steps involved to install it...it was worth the extra effort....

i did a write up of the install in general mods section..its a couple pages back since it hasn't gotten any replies lately..

i just bought a scrap piece of 3/4 inch wood(home depot 33 cents)...and i cut it out, using the metal mounting piece as a guide...i just use the stock knob for now...is the steeda knob metal????i hate metal knobs....it was a long job,but it was well worth it..this shifter is awesome...

btw...did you keep that plastic part that the bolts screw into underneath????i didn't have enough clearance,so i just put nuts on the bolts...
