Here is what dealer recommends:

1) EEC Diagnosis

2) Mass Air Flow Sensor and Major Tune - $ 160 exchange part

3) Air induction Service - 99.95

4) Electronic Trans Diagnosis
Replace Vehicle Speed Sensor - 59.00
Replace Turbine Shaft Sensor - 29.00 (Not In Stock)
Tranny Flush - 99.95

5) Diagnose Temp Guage problem
Replace Temp Sender - 49.00 (Not In Stock)

6) Coolant Flush - 89.95

Total Cost, including 5 hours of labor is 1286.00 + tax.

Parts cost = 586.85
Labor cost = 139.83 per hour

Sounds pretty exhorbitant to me, but I know next to nothing about cars .

What do you guys think?

Well to be honest...that might be a little bit unfair. 1286 - 586 = 700 for 5 hours of labor. Works out to 140 an hour.

Of course that prolly includes things like tranny fluid and coolant. At least I hope it does. Doesn't matter...I am taking it to another shop for another estimate.

Bring your car to North Dakota and have it fixed, labor is around 60$ an hour, that 139$ is insane but i spose its because of higher pay rate in bigger cities

the going rate is $65-80CND/hr around here. $140US that more than 200CND, and i was complaining when i got charged $50/hr when i rebuilt the tranny.
