To make a long story short - I bought a new pair of tires from a Just Tires shop a few weeks ago. Shortly after that I get a weird vibration in the right front wheel, it turns out that I have a broken wheel stud and one of the lug nuts just fell to the ground when I took off my center caps to investigate the vibration. I was basically driving around with only two lug nuts secure.
I figured that the Just Tires shop hadn't tightened the lug nuts properly (the manager agreed), and I had them replace the broken stud for free. This was last week.
Yesterday (having learned the lesson to check the car after any service was done) I removed the center cap again, and ANOTHER LUG NUT DROPS TO THE GROUND. It wasn't the new one, but it may be the other one that originally fell off. I stood right next to the Just Tires guy while he worked on my car and I'm pretty sure all the lug nuts were tight (3 of them were still tight yesterday). I put it back on and made sure it was tight, I'll check it again tomorrow or later today.
Anybody have any idea why a lug nut would loosen and just fall off like that?
