I have 75,000 miles on the car. 96 mystique. The car was my dads but now is mine, his name is still on the title so he its been, legally, just one owner. I think my catalytic converter is partially clogged. How would I check it or who could I take it to to get checked. It hasnt given me a CEL yet, but would it if it was partially clogged?

I believe you're a candidate for the recall. (Check the FAQ section- http://contour.org/FAQ/FAQ.php?s=probs&displayid=8) The warranty should cover the exhaust componets for 80K miles. The pre-cats crumble and the dust and chunks clog up the main cat. It's also possible to suck a chunk of the pre-cat into an exhaust valve and trash a cylinder.

Yeah, thats why I figured I would ask about it. I havent been getting a CEL but my car is displaying the signs of a clogged cat. Im about to just take it off, beat the crap out of it, then put it back on.

Take it off, replace it with a pipe, then put a performance one under the car.
