Wife took the Mystique to a transmission shop yesterday. There were no codes to pull, and the mechanic could not find anything wrong with the transmission. He did, however, say that engine appeared to be misfiring. He recommended that we have a tune-up done. My question is this:

If the engine was, in fact, misfiring, wouldn't a code be generated and wouldn't the CEL be illuminated?

Misfire usually causes a flasing check engine light and should store a DTC in the computer. You could have the computer scanned at autozone as a sanity check or maybe your CE light bulb is burned out?? Is it on for about 2 sexoncs when you first go to start the car?

The CEL light does come on for a few seconds when I start the car. The mechanic told my wife that the computer wasn't throwing any codes. Of course, he also told her that Ford's were the hardest codes to read. (I would tell you the explanation behind that statement, but I can't remember what reasoning he used to justify his remark.) So maybe he is full of it.

I had the same problem with no codes CEL and the flashing O/D. I kept driving the car and a few weeks later I took it back to Autozone and they were able to pull a code. Now all I have to do is fiure out how to fix it. I have posted on here the code and gotten some help but I am still gettin rid of the car after the first of the year!

My Hard upshift was a bad TORQUE CONVERTER
