In 9 out of 10 cases the plastic impeller fails because the s/steel 'cone plate' in the rear part of the w/pump housing comes loose and the impeller hits against it and breaks up.I'd suggest you check this as just changing the pump alone(as some of the aftermarket pumps do not have the inner housing)will only cure the broken impeller not the cone issue.
