I know what it is like to have no money...

...dont do with the people on the board tell you to do. realize most people on here are what should I say 27yr and up. or atleast the ones that knock other peoples cars. do what you like, your the one who bought the car. I would hate to see you make payments on a car that you made for everyone else.

For the record: I'm 36. If that means my opinion means nothing, so be it. It is JMHO, and the kid can do what he wants with it. At one time, I was a teenager with a VW beetle that I wanted more than anything to stick a whale-tail on. Thank God I couldn't afford it, then.

I am sorry if I came off wrong. I was by no mean saying the older you are the less your opinion means. What I was trying to say is hmmm how do I say it. here is an example I used love rap music from like 13 till 19-20 now all of a sudden I have no Idea why I liked it so much, it doesnt fit me. all of a sudden I like alternative and other types of music. what I am trying to say is we change our opinions the more we grow up. at a teenage level we think what we can do with what we have. we arent thinking saving for a house or even college (well most arent) therefore he is doing stuff that most of us wouldnt like just to dress it up with the money he has. granted he or anyone else would be better off saving then buying. but do we? I bought 15" rims for my first contour thinking it was the best I could get and they were awesome (hehe) I look back and laugh and wonder why I didnt go with with 16-18 on there for the same price( I bought them at sears for 1800w tires). I am 23 now and think way different then what I used to. but I still see where he is coming from. again sorry if you took it wrong, or if I said it wrong.

Don't take me too seriously. I should have put more levity in there.

But you call to mind an important point.

If a kid wants to hot-rod a Honda civic, despite what the baby-boomer crowd thinks of it, that's one thing. But if a kid wants to go jump in a lake, and his 36-year old brother tells him, "That's no lake, that's the sewage reclamation tank," and his 23-year-old brother says, "Don't listen to him. He's just an old fart," then I think we're missing the whole point of teenage rebellion.

That's pretty cool.

I was so into "The Mulholland Look..." I had so many dreams...

What I meant was that I probably could never have afforded to do the whole job right, and I would have looked just like those cars on beaterz.com with the unpainted spoilers and too many fog lights.

My dream was to do a full restoration, drop in a 2.0, do the suspension mods to go with it, and top it off with wider fenders (otherwise stock-looking) and yes, the obligatory whale-tail, as a testament to old Ferdy.

Incredible improvement!

Now just get rid of the 5 lug wheel covers and the ding guards and everyone will ask when you got the new car.

Losing the chrome made a BIG difference.
