Hello out there for past week or so I noted a new sound under the hood which appeared to be coming from the coil, sound and vibration. Figuring a short or the like I pulled said coil and found a hairline crack in the #5 receptacle.
Replaced same, even did new wires,(no not performance, but oem, new plugs 2 months ago), put it all back, and guess what, tapping still there. Any ideas out there, please.

Old trick for finding high voltage shorts/leakage.

Start your car in a very dark garage with the hood (and garage door) open. Have a flashlight handy so you can see when you walk to the front of the vehicle. Keep all body parts and clothing away from spinning things under the hood ! Turn out all lights, and wait a few seconds for your eyes to adjust. If you have any high voltage shorts/leakage, you'll see 'em !!

If the tap is mechanical you may be able to hear where it's coming from with a mechanics stethascope. A handy supstitute is a large flat blade screwdriver. Put your ear aganinst the top of the handle and hold the blade against different parts of the motor to isolate the souce of the noise.
