Bought new front rotors today and can't get the old ones off. I think theyre seized on the hub. any help with removing these old rotors would be helpful.

I sprayed some penetrating spray around the hub, but they are not budging??

Thanks

Frequent problem that tends to be solved by patience, persistence and pounding. Read this between poundings:

You might want to try purchasing a Buffalo (no kidding!) brake drum puller. It is essentially three-pronged gear puller, is adjustable for many sizes & works well on rotor removal...my $.02

If you read that link, I'd just like to let you know I haven't had any bad side effects after going nutter on the front rotors with a sledge hammer.

Everything track straight and true.

When "the bigger hammer" doesn't work, here is what I did on a 10 year old Escort.

Drilled lots of 1/4" holes all the way around near the "step" in the rotor. Using biggest hammer available, break off outer ring of router. Now you can fit a gear puller on what is left of the rotor. Add Liquid Wrench and crank ! Scary when that thing pops !!

A Tip for all of you "do it yourself" guys. When doing brakes, place a garbage can lid under the rotor/drum before you start pounding and squirting oil. Makes clean up a breeze !!

CEG'ers thanks for the input, was funny but my neighbor came over with a huge sledge hammer, hit the old rusty rotor about 15 times and it came flying off.. New rotors installed and not only look good but I have my old Contour brake feel back. Really was pretty easy job overall, also repainted my calipers while I had the old rotors off..
