Nope, XM has alot of different channels, but maybe a little less than half are actually commercial-free (they need to make more money somehow, can't depend on subscribers only) whereas Sirius has alot less channels, but quite a bit more than half is commercial free.

XM and Sirius each have 100 channels, well, XM just added the optional Playboy channel for 101. Anyway, they both have ~60 music stations and ~40 talk/news/sports stations. All 60 music stations on Sirius are commercial free, whereas the last 40 talk, ect., have commercials. 30 out of the 60 music stations on XM are commercial free. I sell this stuff all day, every day, so I hopefully can answer most of your questions.

Sound and vision mag did I road test on both and found the coverage on sirius to be a bit better, their satelites follow a better orbit or whatever to make a long story short.

I know that's what I am going to get

Thats not true, how could one have better sound quality than another one there both satalite radios!!!
The difference i've ever heard of is that one has better reception than another. I've done some research and found out that sirius has 3 satalites in space, while xm has 2 of the most powerful radio broadcasting satalites in the world!
So take your pick more satalites or better technology.
I perfer less commericals

I have had XM since January and I absolutly love it. Coverage is great, but their is not a whole lot buildings here in Wyoming to interfere with the signal. Just my two cents.

It is possible that there could be differences in the sound quality of the two. Consider that they are both different companies using different technology to do the same thing.

One thing that I have always wondered is how much digital compression do the two companies do to the audio? The audio data has got to be compressed (like mp3's are) in order for them to stream so much through the satelite, I just wonder how much. I wonder if it would be equivalent to a 128kbit, 160, 192 mp3, or higher?
