use the output side of the wiring harness going to the speakers, and (of course use a wiring diagram or metra harness #5513) and pop the bad speakers with a 9 volt battery. if they pop, its either the amp, the in dash unit, or the cable. I do have a spare amp and factory cd player that came out of my 98 SE if you are interested. the best way to overcome the problem, is to add an aftermarket deck, and bypass the amp. its not that hard to do. metra makes the harness, and all you have to do is extend the speaker wire from the dash, to the amp harness. what i did when i first got the car.
