I haven't had good luck in the Ford "cocktail" stuff either. Put in the Ford mix the first night I took delivery of my E0 SVT due to stiff shifting when cold.
At 1000 miles I switched over to Red Line MTL (Manual Transaxle Lube) since I used that in my 95 SVT Cobra with great success. Not cheap about $10/quart, but the difference is simply awesome. Another good one is Torco.
FWIW, since using the Red Line MTL the tranny has NEVER refused to go into Reverse regardless of the outside temp.
