i'll get my front end inspected next week, its free. I'll wait and see what needs to be done and how much $$$ i'm looking at, then decide if i'm going to do it myself.
I dont do anywork at the dealer but get my parts from them for near cost, it helps to have friends work for Ford.

I had the same problem, made a sharp right turn and now whenever I turned to the right cilck,click,click,click.....then just taking my foot off the brake caused a sound like crushing a soda can. I thought it was the CV joint as well so I went and bought new joints (FORD IS OUT OF THERE FREAKING MINDS!!! they wanted $240 a piece, I went and bought aftermarket) and was getting ready to take off my axle when a friend of mine poped off the lug cover and laying there were two lugs nuts...........The lugs bolts had snapped in half (I am still trying to figure out how), bought new lugs and bolts put them in back in the hub, no more noise and everything is all good.

This is just what happened to me but since you already took off your wheel I'd have to say what everyone else already did......its the CV joints.

Boots don't have to be torn.

Jack up front and turn tires back and forth.

They should only turn about 10 degrees, thats about 2 inches at the tread. If they turn more than that look under car at the shafts. Shaft should barely move where they go into the tranny case. If the shaft on one side of the boot moves and the other side doesn't, thats the bad CV.

Seek help at a shop if you have too. Diagnosis may cost less than the tow bill.
