Can the manual transmission from a 98 se v6 2.5L fit in the 98 svt. i need to replace or rebuild my tranny. i found a used se tranny with 45K for $500. if i can use it in my svt, would it be wise to do so or have my old tranny rebuilt.

what happened to the original tranny?
me personally prefer to rebuild than replace with used parts. had a so called "good low mileage" engine installed when my original engine threw a rod, to make a long story short, 3 months (7000kms) later had to get a rebuild engine and got stuck with a $5000cnd invoice.
whats wrong with your tranny and how much is it to rebuild?
if its the stock diff i'd say rebuild with a quaife...worked for me

Yes it will fit and work properly. The SVT trans is exactly the same as the regular V6 Contour trans. You shouldn't have any problems doing the swap. I do however agree with abwamo on the rebuild. You'd be better off rebuilding with a Quaife anyway.

Manual transmissions do not have torque converters. On top of that SVT's do not have ATX's either.

2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
