Time for new rubber and this is going to be the first winter my CSVT sees snow so I am looking for an all season tire with at least a little grip in the white stuff. I am currently considering 3 different tires: 1) BF goodrich KDWS ($185CDN Installed) 2) Bridgestone Potenza RE950 ($155CDN installed) 3) Michelin Pilot XGTH4 ($155CDN installed) I know nothing will replace an actual snow tire but if someone can attest to one of these tires out performing the others in the snow or can name another tire I would greatly appreciate it. Too many conflicting comments on Tirerack so I am looking for comments from people with approx the same car and tire size.
Thanks

The Dunlop SP's as well as Yoks Avid's H4 or T4's are supposed to be really good all season tires from what I hear...however those are in the class like you are talking.

I have about 300 mi. on my new SP Sport 5000's and I've been impressed with them so far. Slightly more sidewall flex than with my old KDW's, but that's honestly the only difference I've noticed. Hell of a lot quiter, too.

Consumer Reports this month rated Hi-Perf All-Seasons...and gave the Dunlop A-2 the over all nod...over Michelins. $70 per tire...40,000 mile weear warranty. Guess what's going on mine for the winter ;-)
I know they're not car guys...but an unbiased opinion is good sometimes...

I have used Goodyear Eagle RS-A all season tires for a couple of winters. The car drives fine in the snow, assuming appropriate driving for the conditions. They have an H and V rated version, Tire Rack stockes both.

I run 225/50/16's RE950's and am very impressed with winter driving performance. I paid 176.00 cdn installed.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I called and got a quote of $144CDN/tire intalled and balanced for the Dunlop sport A2's and the reviews on tire rack seem OK. Think I might give these a try. As much as want to go with the KDWS the reaction of the salesman when I mentioned winter driving with them left me uneasy. I haven't committed myself to a tire yet so if anyone out there wants to add there $.02 worth.
