If you want both Cassette and CD, buy a pre-98 console with the second DIN-sized radio hole, but a used Premium Sound cassette player from any Contour/Mystique (Premium Sound cassettes have use the same connectors as CD players, because they're both Premium Sound) and buy a used dealer-installed CD player (no radio) and put in the second hole, it connects right in with the cassette player and uses the function buttons (volume, bass, treble, etc...) buttons on the cassette, but the forward, reverse, etc...buttons are on the CD unit. That way you'll have both stock CD and cassette, understand? HTH 
I was thinking the same thing when I put in my Pre-98 console, but I don't feel like buying another headunit with tape, then the other CD player. Kenwood has this option. I'd rather get a small moniter for the top and use the bottom hole for my Kenwood CD HU.
I want it to look like this one day...
