I'd take it (tow it) to a transmission shop long before I let a dealer muck with it. It's like bending over and saying "have fun GUIDO". Sorry about your problems.

I ran my car 4 times at the track once last year, same night as CobraR, just to do it. Once I survived the night with nothing broken I decided it was my last time. It sure was an adrenaline rush though.

Well if I had the option to tow it anywhere I wouldn't have towed to a dealer. Another thing about having the dealer look at it is that I can say you're damn right I was racing now fix it! Someone with a warranty might not be able to get away with that.

well now we know why the aftermarket companies are not using the Tour SVT MTX for the V8 SHO.... My suggestion would be to call around to different shops to find their labor rate, and go to the cheapest one. FWIW, a full clutch job on a sho is 8 hours by the book...Figure about 10 if the input shaft is indeed snapped.

Well I have the labor quotes from them and I am just trying to get second and third and forth opinions on which of the 2 problems it might be. The planetary something or the input shaft.

you shouldn't be allowed to post here.
not even in my dreams, can i run a 13.1......

bahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I'm allowed! I'm a former owner. The car does go pretty good, but I'd rather have its drivetrain in a SVT. Solid powertrain and style all in one, that would be the cats meow.

98TRED- Isn't there someone on the forum who can dig into the car with you. Experience from the Eclipse, I realize that I know a lot more than most dealers and shops about the cars and charge a lot less as well. If I knew as much about the SVT I'd help and it would probably cost 1/2 what anyone else would charge. Just a thought. I don't know if such a person exists in this neck of the woods with experience on the Contours.

Yeah that would be nice but I don't have the time or the equipment never mind the knowledge for that kind of stuff. I am now in the process of learning somewhat about the tranny so I know what the heck everyone is talking about

Did they say what came thru? The planatery is probably a planatery diff. But it sounds like there is a couple of problems. You may want to find out about replacing the transmission. It may be cheaper to do that than to spend the time tracing down parts, cleaning, fitting and whatever. I would get the precise list of what they have found and suspect so far and call Terry Haines.

Another thing you could do is call the junk yard here in Leominster Mass, they are a Greenleaf junk yard hich is owned by Ford. Its called ABC Greenleaf. Ask for Cal. Tell him that you have an SVT, are part of a New England club, a bunch of us have come to him in the past and his pricing is real fair - and flexible.

Or you could be really bold and make your car the First SVT Contour with a 6-speed Focus SVT Tranny! I don't know if it would work because of the torque ratings but IIRC the MTX-75 is similar in both.

Good luck and keep us posted.
