After talking to the dealerships service manager about my dash and letting them look at it they decided a repair kit was in order.[I dont think so]My dash is curled all along the windsheild my defroster vent pops out and will not stay in and the dash is sunken in the middle and raised on both ends, it looks like an airplane wing! Sooo I went home and called Fords customer service. I told them about my problem with the dash and I also told them the coment that the service manager told me about no one at the dealership wanted to work on contours. The Ford rep. told me that that was not right, my car would be repaired and repaired properly. He asked me to please hold for a minute, when he returned to the phone he had the dealership on another line and had already reamed them pretty good he told me it would be taken care of and to be expecting a phone call from the dealership within the hour and encouraged me to call him back if they did not handle this to my satisfaction. Well 5 min. after I hung up the dealership called and told me what a mistake they had made and how sorry they were. They have ordered a new dash for my car and apparently a tongue bath was ordered, they have licked my backside so much that it is starting to hurt. laugh laugh laugh

Ford corrected the problem of the warped dash but the kit that they use to fix (if under spec) looks like a little kid glued the dash back on! I get fumes from the vent, it rattles, and the strip they use where the dash meets the windshield isn't long enough. My suggestion is for you to pull up on it as much as possible before you take it in (about 4-6 inches). I called Ford corporate about my problem and they told me they are very strict about the recall and couldn't help me!

According to my dealer service rep, a new contour dash is a $900 part. So this would explain why Ford is pushing repair vice replacement in many cases. Mine got repaired frown instead of replaced.

When I got to my dealer, the rep said they had a way to repair the issue and she didn't mention anything about replacement, but after the guy tried working on it, apparently he gave up and slated my car for dash-replacement. My defroster plastic is popped out for 1/3 of the entire way from the right. Also, just above my tach, not on the black plastic, but on the blue part that makes contact with it, it's coming apart as well & you can see straight into the interior of the dash.

Still waiting on my lil' postcard to say that the part is in...
