When I had my previous car, i bought and installed a system, 2 Rockford Fosgate tens, and a 400w RF ampp. I put the cd player in, i ran all the wires, hooked up my subs, it worked great, but i did a hack job because i didnt particularly care too much about my grand prix. However now i have a 98 CSVT so i want it lookin pretty. I need tips lots of tips. Some Questions I have: 1. How to remove stock cd player 2. Where should the power cable go through the firewall, any particualr spot worked well for you? 3. Running wires, should i remove carpet(how)?, use the door jams etc? ANY tips would help. Thanks guys.

TIP # 1:
DO NOT GO CHEAP ON THE WIRES.
TIP # 2:
GET A CAPACITOR, A RF IF POSSIBLE.
TIP # 3:
Any wire needed to go to the back of the vehicle is always best if ran down the center of the vehicle. Removing the center console and the rear seat are necessary, but you will be happy with the results. I always run my power cable thru a hole near the cluth pedal and then seal around it with some RTV.
TIP # 4:
Do not buy Jensen. (ok, bad joke)

(1) Ford radio removal tools ('bout $3 at WalMart) or make your own by fashioning some coat hanger into a pair of "U" shapes. (2) Spot next to the wiper arm mechanism. Take off the housing. There's a how-to somewhere around here. Try a search on "firewall" to find it. (3) Power down one side, signal down the other. Just pop up the sills and run the wire under the carpet. BTW, for wiring www.knukonceptz.com, great stuff for little money.

I highly suggest you get your wires here: www.knukonceptz.comThe man who runs it is Bill (Knuconceptz on this forum). His wires are top notch high strand wires so flexible, you can tie his 4 guage like a shoelace. They are some of the best I've seen yet also very inexpensive. His accessories (terminals, ends.. etc...) are also absolutely amazing pieces. I pop the hood and get alot of compliments on the wiring job all the time. Bill has been on the CEG forever and I can't think of anybody I'd rather do business with. He has an amp wiring kit for the Contour with everything you will need from RCAs to Power cable. His service is lightning quick too, 3 days to Saskatchewan is amazing I was so pleased with it I even pasted a huge logo to my rear window To advertise his site (I hate window stickers). Hopefully I get him some more customers!

I would say go cheap on wires (knukonceptz). Actually, inexpensive is a better word than cheap. His wiring is top notch.
Avoid the cap, it will add unneeded strain on your electrical system.

Hey, what's wrong with Jensen... kidding i know what's wrong with it... it somehow got into my trunk... i didn't buy it though, so it's not my fault. there's decent for free subs. I ran power wire near brake (ATX) it's easy to see the gromet and poke a hole through it. Ran singal and remote down center (i know should be split, remember i have jensens subs though, so it doesn't really matter) it's very easy to make the install look nice in the trunk, you can cut through the floor cover in trunk and run wires under it so only seen at amp and back of subs, ground it behind the tail lights.
