I concur. Try using a TireRack recommended installer in your area. I did, and 225-50 are no problem!

Man, I love having my own tire machine! LOL I've got a set of 245's on 7" wide rims. BTW, for those looking for the ultimate tire combination and don't mind a little modding to get them to fit- 245/45/16 on SSR GT1's . 5mm spacer and fender rolling required in the rear and no mods needed up front. Talk about putting some meat on the ground.

BTW, I use a little bit of armor all on the beads to get them sealed up. Worst trouble I've had was 235/35/17's to get mounted up. IIRC we had about 55-60 PSI getting the bead to seat up, also use a rubber mallet on the sidewall lightly to get the bead to slide a little since it's just friction holding it in place and a good bump will get it moving the right way.

When you seat a tire you are supposed to lubricate it with soap water. Any small and stiff sidewalled tire is hard to mount but can be done. I've done two sets of KDW's and a set of SZ 50's. It's hard but can be done. Lub the rim and the tire bead to all hell! You can also try deflating and reinflating them!

My 2000 came with KDWS 225/50ZRs. I have been keeping the psi at 34, but I will see how they do.

I mean while they are trying to seat them on the rim!
