We (96Zetec & I) tried and the 2" does go on, just really, really tight...but the idea of restricting a 2.5" tb into 2" pipe just doesnt make sense.
We prototyped with pvc, took measurments, then returned everything to home depot...Cost to Date $0.00! The exhaust shop we frequent told us it would be about $10-$15 to bend up a 2.5" pipe...

If you're going to get something custom-bent by an exhaust guy, I think you want 2.5 inch rather than 3 inch, because it has a much smoother path into the TB that way.

Best home made would be a gradual reduction from 3 inch to 2.5inch (or whatever TB is). It would have some good pressure pushing in the air. Or if you want the perfect intake just wait for the street flight CAI.

To Hector or anyone else with a cta, does it start out with 2.5 inch pipe or is it stright to 3" off the tb. I checked and i thought it it was a 3 not a 2.5 but wasnt sure where the change came in exactly. thanks

Even if you don't have the answer, you certainly have to admire the problem.

Slit the Rubber piece at each end, and fasten to TB with whatever will fit and make a good squeeze. Toxic fumes, blah blah blah.

PVC fumes kill O2 sensors as well as pollute the air with toxic gases. PVC WILL melt in under hood temps, a friend with a second gen Escort LX can attest to that. Amazing how his hose clamps kept coming loose and the PVC kept changing shape in the summer time.
