I sure can argue that point.
Your TB and intakes get dirty from the PCV dumping into the bottom of the intake. Not from the EGR system in any way.
The EGR system is used to reburn unburnt fuel vapor in the engine and cool the engine's cylinders. One's good for the environment, 02s & cats and the other your engine.
