Wednesday I'm going to go around to some of the body shops in my area and get some estimates on repainting my front bumper, hood and take care of a few dents. I really do not know much about paint jobs so I need some advice on what questions to ask...prep work ect. I do know to stay away fom MAACO and the like. I thought there were a few guys on the board that are in the paint/body business and really seemed to know there stuff. Anyways, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to paint, just need to know what to ask the body shops and how will I be able to tell which is the best. Thanks.

I'd just ask neighbors and friends for a good shop. If they had work done to their cars, then inspect the work. That's the best way to tell a good shop.

ask if they remove all the small stuff like washer nozzles. if they dont, leave and go somewhere else. a good place will remove everything (if you were to redo the whole car for example)

will they remove the front bumper (it'll come out better if they do)

please check around, and remember you get what you pay for w/ paint...my brother paints cars, and you really gotta watch out...if it sounds too good to be true it probably is...don't skimp, saving some $$$ may only make you regret it in the long run..good shops charge alot, because they do good work and its all worth it in the long run...

btw neal i guess you decided not to come to the memphis car show last weekend huh??

it was great, and i got first place in my class(against a couple foci, and a couple other cars)very cool, had a great time..man there were some sweet cars there..maybe you can come next year(same weekend)maybe u'll have ur car painted by then too....
