I already posted this info in Kevin's thread about HIDs. But seeing that some of you may not see it, here's some important info that you need to know:

If you are interested in installing HID in your cars, there are two different types of systems that you can get.

One is the D2S , and the other is D2R .

The correct system to buy for the Contours is the system that runs D2R bulbs The reason this is is the fact that the D2R bulbs were designed to work with headlights that utilize reflectors to deliver the light output of a headlight. The Contour headlight as you know is designed just this way.

The D2S bulbs on the other hand were designed to be used ONLY with the Projector housings, and thus with headlights that employ them to deliver the light output.

Using either bulb in the wrong setup will result in them not producing the optimal light, and the light color will not be typical of that bulb. You can say that the light quality is poor.

I have a 6000K HID kit that has D2S bulbs and was always wondering how come it didn't shine as good as a BMW or Audi HID system. I found out that the D2S bulb was never meant to be in a reflector.

I have recently started converting my headlights to projectors, and the results are incredible!

For those of you who are still skeptical, take a look at this:

Note that every car that uses a D2S also uses a projector and every car that uses a D2R uses a reflector.

Before those that have D2S in their cars start screaming at me, let me repeat that these bulbs will work fine, but they will never shine the way they were meant to, and thus they will not produce the light output that they are advertised to do!!
