01S22 is the Heater Blower Connector replacement. It is a Safety Recall, as the connector apparently chaffes and can arc, causing sparks, etc. etc.
I went to
www.alldata.com and checked recalls for Contours. Recall # 99M07 and 99M08 look to cover the "only works in High setting" fan problem. One is for Heater Blower resistor and the other is for some resistor connector (not the same one as 01S22 I believe). I'll be calling my dealer to get the car in for one or the other of the 99M programs.
Quick Ford recall code primer: "S" programs are safety recalls and are done to all vehicles upon request (and sometimes they'll do it if the car is in for something else without even asking you).
"M" programs are only performed if the vehicle exhibits symptoms of the problem. A good example is the Dash Warpage recall, another is the Slow Fuel Fill recall. They won't ever do an "M" program unless you ask for it.
